Home Ministry is working to find a way to block whatsApp calling feature in India.
WhatsApp is a chat based end-to-end encrypted security enabled app. Means all the messages and calls or any other communication made on the app are secure and cannot be read, listened or watched. In short no other than you can intercept any communication made on WhatsApp. Unlike phone calls and simple text message which can be access by mobile service provider, they can even record all your calls including personal discussion.

This encryption is however great for the people who often engage in such private conversation on WhatsApp. but, on the other hand this is a huge security breech in Security and safety. Especially in India where terrorists are already so active.
This encryption method on WhatsApp provides them a secure way of communication among them regarding plan and execution of their terrorist activity. And government has no clue about these communications as they can’t put WhatsApp calls on surveillance by any method.
If everything go with plan and Government find a way to intercept these call then WhatsApp calling will be available and if not, soon you won’t be able to make any audio or video call on WhatApp.
Tacking a call which are involved in such terrorist activity is often helpful to get ready to stop the potential crime or terrorist activity.
On Monday official meeting held in North Block chaired by union Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba, discussed about this issue.
According to the officials many apps like WhatsApp use end-to-end encryption is a big challenge for authorities to track and intercept the communication on these app. Even if they intercept all traffic data.
Officials in the security apparatus told NDTV that it was very important for the Ministry of Telecom, in consultation with the Ministry of Home Affairs to devise a policy urgently under which a communication medium like WhatsApp, which is headquartered in another country, comes under the purview of Indian laws.
