Microsoft Malware Detection Program for $25,000 Prize in cash
In order to test the AI(artificial Intelligence) of participant , Microsoft has launch a new Malware Detection Competition. A competition to check the AI model of all the participants to know how accurately they can predict the malware from infected device running Microsoft OS.
A evolution in Malware and spyware is targeting organisation and individuals in a modern and sophisticated way. A recent Ransomeware attack which infected million of users and Individuals last year is an example.
Announcing this competition will let Microsoft to learn from participant’s AI model to predict a windows running machine’s probabilities of getting infected from Malware. This will allow Microsoft to improve their Malware protection model to make user experience much better.
Microsoft announced $25000 cash price for Malware Detection Competition winners and it will be splited into top 5 performer respectively below
- 1st Place – $12,000
- 2nd Place – $7,000
- 3rd Place – $3,000
- 4th Place – $2,000
- 5th Place – $1,000
In the competition Microsoft will provide all the data collected from 18 Million machine running on Microsoft Windows. These data are collected by Windows Defender, Malware and Anti-Virus software by Microsoft.
Participant will get a data of 9.4 GB containing all the information about all the Malware ever detected by Windows Defender and submitted by user.
Competitions are open to residents of the United States and worldwide, except if you are a resident of Crimea, Cuba, Iran, Syria, North Korea, Sudan, or are subject to U.S. export controls or sanctions, then you may not enter the Competition.
Maximum 8 individuals can team up and participant the competition and team cannot sign up to Kaggle from multiple accounts and therefore you cannot submit from multiple accounts.
The enrollment deadline for the competition is March 13th, 2019. The winner of the competition will be announced by determining the accuracy of participant model which detects machines that would become infected.

- March 6, 2019 – Entry deadline. You must accept the competition rules before this date in order to compete.
- March 6, 2019 – Team Merger deadline. This is the last day participants may join or merge teams.
- March 13, 2019 – Final submission deadline.
