Google is planning to discontinue the Voice and Video calling App Google Hangout: A news from Google headquarters has just came out that the Hangout Messenger has to be discontinued after the year 2019.
Google Hangout uses VOIP feature to provided the user a convenient way of expressing themselves via messaging, Video calls, SMS, and Text chat. Google Hangout has replaced the three major products from Google with same or less services, Google Talk, Google+Messenger or Huddle and Hangouts(a video chat feature for Google plus users).
Google Hangout was released on May 15, 2013 to provide users a different and one of the first all in one messenger which had Hangout video calling, Text Chatting, SMS, and many more features . Prior the released of Google Hangout, other product of Google was used for different purposes like, Google Talk- an enterprise oriented services based on XMPP. Google+ Messenger, and the Hangouts feature of Google+, which provided chat, voice, video conferencing features.
In order to compete the other Social Media platform based messaging apps from Facebook, iMessage and Whatsapp, Google Planned to introduce Google Hangout to provide their users a easy and all in one suite.
Later Google launched the Official Hangout application for various platforms including Android, Chrome OS, iOS, Google Chrome or any browser compatible with Google Chrome Extensions, Web platform.
“Last spring Google announced its pivot for the Hangouts brand to enterprise use cases with Hangouts Chat and Hangouts Meet, so the writing has been on the wall for quite some time regarding the Hangouts consumer app’s demise,” 9to5Google reported late on Friday.
